Baby P’s Stepfather Loses Parole Bid to Be Freed from Jail

Steven Barker, the stepfather of Baby P, has lost his latest attempt to be released from prison. Barker was jailed in 2009 for 12 years for causing or allowing the death of 17-month-old Peter Connelly in 2007. He was also handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 10 years for a separate rape conviction.

A parole panel concluded that Barker still poses a high risk to the public, having failed to participate in programs to reduce his risk of violent and sexual offending. He will face another review in two years.
