A major arson investigation is under way after a large fire tore through a house and several outbuildings in Battle Lane, Marden.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 11.58am on Wednesday to reports of a blaze involving a residential property.
Large-scale response
At the height of the fire, 11 fire engines, two bulk water carriers, and a technical rescue unit were deployed to tackle the flames. Firefighters used hydrants, hose reel jets, main jets, and even water from a nearby swimming pool to bring the incident under control.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus worked for several hours to fully extinguish the fire and damp down hot spots.

No injuries
The property was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Treated as arson
Investigators have since confirmed that the cause of the blaze is believed to be deliberate, and Kent Police are working alongside fire crews to establish how the fire was started.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:
“This was a significant fire requiring a large response from across the county. Thankfully, no one was inside the property at the time, but due to the scale of the blaze, an investigation is now under way.”
Police appeal
Kent Police are expected to appeal for witnesses and any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around Battle Lane at the time of the fire.
