In a significant breakthrough, detectives investigating the untimely death of 16-year-old Tafari Thompson-Mintah have charged a 40-year-old man with murder. Joseph Barnes, born on September 14, 1983, and currently without a fixed abode, was apprehended on Thursday, October 12, under suspicion of murder.
He was formally charged on Saturday, October 14, and is scheduled to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 16.
The family of Tafari has been informed of this development and continues to receive support from law enforcement officers during this difficult time.
The incident leading to Tafari’s tragic death occurred on Monday, October 9, at approximately 15.30. While riding a moped along Sevenoaks Way in St Paul’s Cray, Tafari was involved in an altercation that resulted in fatal consequences. Despite the swift response and valiant efforts of emergency services, Tafari succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
