Arrest made as woman dies after being hit by motorcycle in Blackheath

A woman in her 60s has died following a collision involving a motorbike in Blackheath on Tuesday morning (October 1). The incident occurred on Kidbrooke Park Road just before 8:30 am.

Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service, attended the scene and found the woman unresponsive. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

The woman’s family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. The motorcyclist involved stopped at the scene, and an arrest has been made in connection with the incident.

Kidbrooke Park Road remains closed in both directions between Weigall Road and Henley Cross while investigations continue. Bus routes 178 and 335 have been diverted to accommodate the road closure.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 08:29hrs on Tuesday, 1 October, by London Ambulance Services to a collision involving a motorbike and a pedestrian near Kidbrooke BR station at the junction of Pegler Square, SE3. Officers attended along with ambulance colleagues and found that the pedestrian had been injured. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, a woman aged in her 60s, sadly died at the scene. The woman’s family are being supported by specialist officers.

An arrest has been made, and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with dashcam footage or witnesses yet to speak with police are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8597 4874, or dial 101, quoting reference 1386/01OC.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 8:26 am on Tuesday (1 October) to reports of a road traffic collision in Pegler Square, Kidbrooke. We dispatched multiple resources, including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, members of our Tactical Response Unit, and London’s Air Ambulance. The first crew arrived within six minutes. Despite the efforts of our teams, the patient, a woman, sadly died at the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
