Appeal for witnesses after man injured in Newmarket incident

Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident at a residential property in Newmarket in which a man was injured.

Police were called at 12.59am this morning, Thursday 25 January, to a report of an assault at a property in Nat Flatman Street, Newmarket.

Officers and paramedics attended, and a man and a woman were taken to hospital by ambulance. The man was stabbed in the leg and suffered a head injury. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, while the woman was uninjured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have seen a group of men leaving a property in Nat Flatman Street and heading towards All Saints Road. One of these men may have been injured.

A police cordon is in place at the scene while investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Stuart Dolan-Allen, of West CID, said: We understand this incident will cause concern to residents.

“Additional reassurance patrols are being carried in the surrounding area and members of the public are encouraged to approach uniformed officers and share any concerns they may have.

“We are treating this as an isolated incident and would ask anyone with any information, no matter how small you think it may be, to contact Suffolk police.”

Any witnesses, anyone with information, residents in the area with CCTV or a video doorbell, or drivers with dash-cameras driving in the Nat Flatman and All Saints Road area between midnight and 1am, are asked to contact police quoting crime reference 37/4505/24, via:
