Kent Police are appealing for witnesses, CCTV, and dashcam footage following a tragic collision in Whitstable that left a two-year-old child dead.
Child Confirmed Deceased at the Scene
Emergency services were called to the junction of Harbour Street and Cromwell Road at around 8.24pm on Saturday, 16 August 2025 after reports of a car colliding with multiple pedestrians.

A man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a two-year-old child was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Arrest Made
A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Investigators from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are urging members of the public to come forward with information.

A Kent Police spokesperson said:
“We are particularly keen to hear from witnesses, including bus passengers in the area at the time, who may not yet have spoken to officers. We are also appealing for anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us as soon as possible.”
