The bike marking event on Saturday 13 January 2024 is open to anyone, and Kent Police is encouraging anyone who owns a bicycle to come along.

Sergeant Lee Thompson from Canterbury Community Safety Unit said: ‘This is a free event, and as the city attracts a lot of cyclists, we hope they will take the opportunity to get their bicycles security-marked, as well as speak to our team about staying safe. No doubt some people will have been given bicycles as Christmas gifts or maybe bought their own as part of a New Year resolution.

‘The security marking means the bike is uniquely identifiable, making it less attractive to thieves as it will be harder to sell on, but easier to reunite with its owner if it is stolen.’

Officers will be in Rose Lane, Canterbury, near to the Marlowe Arcade, between 10am and 4pm.
