Acid attack carried out in broad daylight daylight in Hackney

Two people have been rushed to hospital following a brazen attack in broad daylight in Downs Road in Hackney earlier this evening. The attacks happened just after 7.30pm following a road traffic collision involving a grey Mercedes. An off off duty police officer sprung into action at the scene of a suspected corrosive substance attack. Calling for help and provided vital first aid. An investigation into the attack has been launched and the two people remain in hospital being treated following the life changing assault. No arrests have been made and a cordon remains in place. The A104 Downs Road (E5) (Both Directions) at the junction of Lower Clapton Road remains closed Scotland Yard say police were called at 7.21pm – two males were found suffering from substance burns. The Met added that they were initially called to Downs Road and then to Cricketfield Road, #E5. Witnesses at the scene say a car crashed into a brick wall after being chased by another car just before the attack took place. More to follow
