According to a police spokesperson, a serious single-vehicle collision occurred on the A27 eastbound between Falmer and Lewes shortly before 3 am. Due to the need for forensics and recovery, the road will remain closed in both directions for a significant period.
Authorities have urged commuters to exercise patience and seek alternative routes if possible, as the closure is expected to persist for “quite some time.” The closure affects a stretch of the A27 between B2123 The Drove (Falmer/Rottingdean Junction) and A277 Brighton Road (Ashcombe Roundabout).
