A2 Closed After Serious Motorbike Crash Near Dartford Crossing

A serious collision involving two motorbikes has forced the closure of the A2 in both directions between A2018 Old Bexley Lane in Dartford and junction 2 of the M25 at the Darenth Interchange, near the approach to the Dartford Crossing.

The incident, which occurred shortly before 4.50pm on Friday, prompted a major emergency response, including highway patrols, paramedics, and the deployment of an air ambulance.

A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed:

“Police were called at 4.50pm to a report of a serious collision involving two motorbikes. Officers attended along with highway patrols and paramedics. The road remains closed while the incident is being responded to.”

There are unconfirmed reports that a car may also have been involved in the collision.

As of 8pm, London-bound traffic on the A2 has been released, but the coastbound carriageway remains closed to allow for a full collision investigation, which is expected to take several hours.

National Highways is urging motorists to allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes, with severe delays reported throughout the area.

Traffic Impact:

The South East Coast Ambulance Service has been contacted for further details regarding the condition of those involved.
