UPDATED: A13 Closed Westbound Due to Serious Crash Investigation – Severe East London Delays

Severe traffic disruption is continuing this morning (Tuesday, July 1) across East London after a serious crash closed the A13 westbound overnight.

The closure, in place since 8.40pm yesterday, affects the A13 westbound from A117 Woolwich Manor Way (Beckton Flyover) to A112 Prince Regent Lane (Canning Town).

 


Extensive Congestion Across the Region

The incident has caused significant congestion, with delays stretching as far back as Ferry Lane in Rainham and long tailbacks on the North Circular from the Ilford Flyover.

Motorists are also reporting severe hold-ups on surrounding routes through Barking and Dagenham.

Transport officials are urging drivers to avoid the area, warning of “very slow-moving traffic” and to use alternative routes where possible.

Police Investigation Underway

The road remains fully closed westbound while accident investigation work continues. No details have been released yet on the number of vehicles involved or whether anyone was injured.

Live traffic monitoring services first flagged the closure at 5.24am, and the latest update was issued at 7.57am, confirming ongoing disruption during the morning rush hour.
