A Violent Drunk Who Assaulted Two Members Of Pub Staff Has Been Jailed

Daniel Edwards, aged 29, punched one man in the face and bit another on the arm during the incident outside the Joseph Else pub in South Parade, Nottingham city centre.

Edwards was in the smoking area when he became aggressive and launched an unprovoked attack against his fist victim.

He then continued his violent outburst as he was restrained by a security guard at around 9pm on Friday 3 March.

He was arrested a short time later.

Edwards later told officers that he was drunk and could not remember the incident.

Appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning, Edwards, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and was jailed for ten weeks.

He was also ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

PC Nicole Bass, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a disgraceful and unprovoked attack that could have caused somebody a serious injury.

“I am pleased that Edwards has been deal with so quickly by the courts and hope this case serves as a warning to others about the consequences of this type of behaviour.”
