A Suspect Was Apprehended Minutes After Police Were Alerted To A Burglary In Progress

At 4.39 a.m. today (Thursday, January 19, 2023), police were called to an address in Dalestorth Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, after reports that a man had gained entry to a garage.

Officers responded quickly and apprehended a 46-year-old man.

Officers discovered a number of knives after searching the suspect. He was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and having a bladed article.

Officers did a great job responding so quickly to this incident, detaining a suspect and preventing the situation from escalating,” said Nottinghamshire Police Temporary Detective Sergeant Georgie Gallagher.

I’d like to reassure the public the force continues to work hard to keep people safe and drive down this type of offending and will robustly investigate reports of burglary made to the service.

“I’m pleased we quickly apprehended a suspect, and our investigations into this incident continue.”
