A suspect has appeared in court charged with carrying out distraction burglaries in Dover and Hythe

Kent Police detectives investigated following three similar reports of jewellery being stolen during loft insulation work at homes between Friday 31 May and Wednesday 26 June 2024.

Following enquiries, a man was arrested in Sandwich on Wednesday 17 July.

Stuart McAllister, 60, of Strand Street, Sandwich, has since been charged with burglary in relation to the three incidents.

He appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 July and was bailed to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 19 August.
