A Person has fallen from a Bridge across the A3 in Portsmouth
The A3(M) northbound and South bound is currently at a complete standstill following a serious police incident near Junction 5 at Bedhampton, just outside Portsmouth.
Traffic has been brought to a halt since around 10:45am, with eyewitnesses reporting a heavy police presence, emergency services on scene, and an air ambulance landing nearby.
Multiple sources, including local residents and motorists, suggest that a person may have fallen or jumped from a bridge overlooking the carriageway. Bedhampton Road, which runs above the A3(M), is also reportedly closed off by police.

National Highways confirmed the road is expected to remain closed until at least 12:15pm, with lane closures in place and delays already exceeding 60 minutes.
Air Ambulance Deployed
Witnesses have confirmed that Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance attended the scene, landing near the motorway to support paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.

Police have not yet issued a formal statement, but local updates indicate that the incident involved a person on the bridge, with unverified claims from social media that the individual may have been found deceased.
