Phillip Anderson was sentenced on 1 October 2020 at Maidstone Crown Court after admitting possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession of cannabis and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

The 41-year-old of Wishing Tree Road North, St Leonards-On-Sea also admitted possession of a knife in a public place.

He was jailed for two years and 10 months following the offences, which were committed on 9 October and 16 November 2018 respectively.

Anderson was stopped by officers on 9 October 2018 while driving a vehicle on the A21 in Lamberhurst.

His car was searched, leading to wraps of cocaine being uncovered alongside a quantity of cannabis and a knife disguised as a torch.

On 16 November officers were patrolling the Dartford area when at around 9.55pm Anderson came to their attention while driving onto the A206 Crossways.

Police requested him to stop the vehicle, however he continued driving, before controlled contact was made with his car in order to ensure it stopped.

When the vehicle came to a stop, Anderson got out and tried to run away but was arrested after a short foot chase.

During a search of the vehicle officers found a small quantity of cannabis as well as a flick knife. He was arrested and later charged with the offences.

As well as being jailed the judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs and weapons.

Investigating officer PC Marcel Bibi said: ‘On both occasions Anderson was found in possession of drugs and knives and this is not acceptable behaviour. I hope his sentence acts as a deterrent to others.’
