A Four-year-old Boy Fell 20 Feet From The Harbour Wall Near Nelson Steps Into The Harbour's Rapidly Ebbing Tide In Littlehampton

A wonderful expression of gratitude for David Elphinstone’s bravery yesterday evening. A four-year-old boy fell 20 feet from the harbour wall near Nelson steps into the harbour’s rapidly ebbing tide. When the boy fell, David was on his boat at Littlehampton Yacht Club. David swam across the river to the boys’ aid after witnessing the incident. David kept himself and the young boy afloat long enough for the RNLI lifeguards to arrive. Lifeguards arrived quickly and were able to assist in the safe recovery of the young boy.
Swimming in the harbour is dangerous and discouraged, but thanks to his quick thinking and bravery, yesterday’s incident was a success.
