The victim suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed at Birchington station in January 2022.

Curtis Webb, 26, and of Newton Green, Ashford, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 31 August where he pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm.

On 9 November a judge sentenced him to seven years and six months imprisonment.

At just before 1am on 14 January 2022, the 46-year-old victim drove into Birchington station’s car park.

Moments later Webb entered the car park having taken a taxi from a Wetherspoons pub in Margate. He approached the driver-side door, opened it and a confrontation between him and the victim ensued.

CCTV cameras covering the car park captured Webb subjecting the victim to a frenzied 40-second attack, during which he was repeatedly stabbed with a knife.

The victim fled the station on foot and was found laying on the ground on Paddock road by members of the public with laceration wounds to his head, neck and shoulders.

Paramedics arrived, and he was urgently flown to King’s College Hospital in London to undergo surgery for his severe injuries.

Webb was stopped by Kent Police officers a short time later in a car on the A28 and arrested in connection. During the arrest, Webb commented, “is the guy all right”.

A large kitchen knife and a hammer were recovered from the vehicle.

In a prepared statement presented to officers in the interview, Webb said, “I started to poke him with the knife, I really didn’t think that I was penetrating his coat”.

Detective Sergeant Nick Thompson, investigating officer in the case, said: “This was a pre-mediated, horrific attack that resulted in the victim suffering life-threatening injuries.

“Webb’s actions that night proves he’s a dangerous individual and I’m pleased with the adequately strong sentence that has been handed down. He’s clearly not fit to be in the community.
