42 charged and 831 arrests at Extinction Rebellion protests

As of 10am on Sunday, 21 April, 831 arrests have been made since Monday, 15 April in connection with ongoing Extinction Rebellion protests. 42 people have been charged. Protestors who glued themselves to the roof of a lorry on Waterloo Bridge have been safely removed and the lorry was subsequently cleared from the area at 5.18pm on Sunday. Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus have now re-opened and as such conditions are no longer required in the Oxford Circus area. Conditions currently remain in Waterloo Bridge and Parliament Square and officers are working hard to re-open these areas as soon as possible so that the area can be returned to normality. We remain in frequent contact with the organisers to ensure that the serious disruption to Londoners is brought to a close as soon as possible and that only lawful and peaceful protests continue.
