40 Firefighters Battle Blaze at Putney House

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to tackle a house fire on Schubert Road in Putney last night.

The blaze broke out at a semi-detached property, causing significant damage to half of the second floor and a small part of the first floor, according to London Fire Brigade. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.

Fire crews used one of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders as an observation tower, allowing the Incident Commander to monitor the scene from above and coordinate the firefighting efforts more effectively.

Emergency Control Officers received the first call at 8.24pm, with crews swiftly mobilised from Wandsworth, Battersea, Fulham, and Tooting fire stations. The incident was brought under control by 9.45pm.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fire officers are continuing their inquiries into how it started.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade praised the quick response of the teams, noting that the use of aerial observation helped contain the blaze and minimise further damage.
