Emergency services have been called to a fire at the former Parkbury Hotel on Broadway, Sandown, amid reports that people may be inside.

The  Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised crews to the derelict building shortly after 4:20pm on Saturday 9th August 20225  with “persons reported”, indicating potential risk to life.

Multiple fire engines are at the scene, and firefighters in breathing apparatus are working to search the premises and tackle the blaze.

The building on Broadway has been unoccupied for some time but is a known hotspot for trespassers.

There are no confirmed details yet on any injuries or rescues. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Police and ambulance crews are also believed to be in attendance as a precaution.
