Andrew Thompson Sentenced: Shocking Child Sexual Abuse Case

Andrew Thompson, a 32-year-old man from Rossall Road, Great Sankey, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after admitting to sexually abusing young boys. Thompson appeared at Chester Crown Court on Monday, February 19, 2024, where the verdict was delivered.

Thompson pleaded guilty to a total of 33 offences, including:

Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.

Nineteen counts of voyeurism.

Two counts of making indecent images.

Two counts of taking indecent images.

One count of possession of indecent images.

The case came to light in July 2022 when a camera was discovered hidden in the toilets at an Air Training Corps (ATC) facility. The camera contained thousands of images, including footage of a man installing it. Subsequent analysis identified the suspect as Andrew Thompson, who was arrested on December 23, 2022.

Following Thompson’s arrest, law enforcement seized several electronic devices. These devices were sent for digital forensic analysis. Over the next few months, investigators meticulously examined the contents of these devices, uncovering thousands of indecent images of young boys. Shockingly, some of these images were taken at the school where Thompson worked, as well as during trips with the ATC.

Officers also interviewed several boys who knew Thompson. These victims bravely revealed that they had been sexually assaulted by him. Their testimonies, along with the extensive evidence gathered, led to Thompson’s rearrest in September.

Facing overwhelming evidence, Thompson pleaded guilty to all charges. In addition to his prison sentence, he will be subject to stringent conditions upon release. Notably, he is prohibited from working with children.

Dramatic Mud Rescue at West Wittering: Importance of Specialist Training

Dramatic Mud Rescue at West Wittering: Importance of Specialist Training

Specialist Training Proves Crucial in Navigating West Wittering’s Treacherous Mud In a dramatic rescue operation on February 17, 2024, a family of five found themselves in a precarious situation stuck in the mud at West Wittering, with the tide ominously inching closer. The call for help, received at 12:44, triggered an urgent response from a consortium of emergency services, including the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service, Portsmouth Coastguard Rescue Team, and the highly specialised Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team.
The initial attempt to reach the stranded family by four members of the fire service proved challenging due to the treacherous mud conditions. It quickly became apparent that this was a job for the Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team’s Mud Technicians. These specialists, trained explicitly for such precarious situations, were deployed to navigate the hazardous terrain.
Photo – Selsey Coastguard Equipped with specialist mud rescue gear, the two Mud Technicians made their way to the beleaguered family. Their expertise and equipment were crucial in securing the family’s safety, demonstrating the importance of specialised training in mud rescue operations. The collaborative effort saw the family safely extracted from the mud and brought back to solid ground, where they were immediately attended to by waiting ambulance service personnel.
Despite the cold and frightening ordeal, the family was found to be in good health after being checked and warmed up by the ambulance service. They were fortunate to escape the situation without any serious injuries.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by mud and quicksand, especially near coastal areas. The Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team took the opportunity to reiterate safety tips for the public, emphasising the importance of checking weather forecasts and tide times, heeding warning signs, avoiding hazardous areas, and knowing what to do if caught in a dangerous situation. The key advice for anyone finding themselves stuck in mud is to distribute their weight as evenly as possible, avoid moving unnecessarily, and immediately call 999 for the Coastguard, underscoring the message that preparedness and caution can save lives.

A man was imprisoned after engaging in criminal activities for 12 hours across West Sussex. The incident began around 4:30 pm on January 3, when police were alerted to a commotion at Pengelly Gardens in Littlehampton.
Zac Brazil, who was armed with a knife, invaded a home and threatened its occupants.
That evening, at approximately 8 pm, he forced his way into another house in Ravenscroft, Storrington, where he assaulted a woman with a knife, causing minor wounds. He also deliberately destroyed the woman’s eyeglasses by crushing them underfoot.
At the age of 26 and without a permanent residence, Brazil was found to be carrying cannabis at the time of his arrest.
The day before these incidents, he had been caught driving illegally without a license or insurance.
Brazil admitted to charges including criminal damage, common assault, affray, carrying a knife, possessing a Class B substance, refusing to comply with a preliminary test, uninsured and disqualified driving.
On February 12, he was brought before the Lewes Crown Court, where he received a sentence of three and a half years in prison and a five-year Serious Violence Reduction Order (SVRO). This order allows the police to search him in public places for weapons at any time over the next year.
Furthermore, he was banned from driving for an additional 90 months.
Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs said: “This is a deserved result for Brazil who caused distress to a number of victims.
“Not only the prison sentence, but the power of the SVRO is so important and I am proud of the team for securing yet another one.
“This shows our commitment to make sure dangerous and persistent offenders are taken off the streets.”
