Yellow weather warning issued for South coast

A warning has been issued for the South coast of strong winds in excess of 50-60 mph for the Isle of Wight and surrounding area today (Friday 8). The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for high winds today until 8pm. It advises that strong south-westerly winds may lead to some disruption to travel today. Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely. Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.” Cross-Solent travel has been affected, with Hovertravel suspended until at least noon today. The islands travel companies Red Funnel’s Red Jet and Wightlink’s Yarmouth to Lymington ferry have already been affected with conditions getting worse later today. Customer are being advised to check before they travel, due to the forecast.
