Two rescued from Sinking Fishing boat in Cowes

Two people have been successfully rescued from onboard a sinking fishing boat that had started raking on water this evening. A lifeboat and a Coastguard search and rescue team were both mobilsed to assist the 18ft vessel shortly after 7pm. The Cowes RNLI lifeboat used a pump to remove water from the sinking vessel before towing the vessel and two crew back to Trinity landing in Cowes. The pair were them met by Ventnor Coastguard. A UK Coastguard spokesperson said: “The Cowes lifeboat was launched to assist a f vessel taking on water in Osborne Bay. Members of the lifeboat crew used a pump to remove water from onboard the vessel before setting up a tow to bring the vessel back into Cowes harbour . They have pumped out the water and towed the vessel to Cowes.” The Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team met the lifeboat, and fishing boat crew, as they arrived at Trinity Landing.
