In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a woman found dead alongside a father and his two young daughters in Costessey, near Norwich, has been identified as the children’s aunt, who had been visiting from Thailand. The victims were discovered with stab wounds, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
The woman, Kanticha Noon, aged 36, had arrived in the UK on December 27 and was staying with her sister Nanthaka’s husband, Bartlomiej Jakub Kuczynski, and their daughters, seven-year-old Downreuang and 12-year-old Jasmin. Tragically, all four of them lost their lives in this horrific incident.
Naty Wathanakul, a close friend of Kanticha Noon, expressed the profound grief that has gripped the family. She revealed that Nanthaka, the mother of the two girls, was left “shocked and heartbroken” after losing her children and sister. Nanthaka, who was at work as a caretaker in Norwich when the tragedy occurred, miraculously survived due to her absence from the scene.
Kanticha Noon had planned to return home in the upcoming month, according to her friend. This visit had been somewhat unexpected, as she usually travelled to the UK once or twice a year.
Describing Kanticha Noon, Naty Wathanakul said, “She loved her nieces, I always saw their pictures together. She is a single woman, no boyfriend, no husband, that’s why she spent most of her time with those lovely girls.”
However, Naty Wathanakul also mentioned that Bartlomiej Jakub Kuczynski had been dealing with mental health issues and was no longer working. The details surrounding the tragic incident remain under investigation.
Post-mortem examinations revealed that the 45-year-old man died from a stab wound to the neck, while Kanticha Noon, aged 36, succumbed to multiple stab wounds to the neck. The post-mortem examinations for the two girls are scheduled for Wednesday.
Detectives have confirmed that the man and the two children lived at the Costessey address, while Kanticha Noon was visiting from abroad. Police have stated that they believe no one else was involved in the incident.
The tragedy has left the community in mourning, with floral tributes and heartfelt messages placed near the house in Costessey. Headteachers from local schools have offered support to pupils and staff affected by the devastating loss.
Norfolk Police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) regarding police contact about a missing person inquiry at the same address the previous month. Detectives continue their investigation, and a police cordon remains in place at the scene as the community grapples with this heartbreaking event.
