Three men have been charged after a teenage girl was allegedly drugged and raped in a south-west London park.
Police were called to Fishponds Park in Surbiton shortly after 7.15am on Thursday (21 August) following reports that a 17-year-old girl had been attacked.
Forensic officers sealed off parts of the park as detectives launched an investigation into what has been described as a “deeply concerning” incident.
Suspects charged
The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Saturday that three men have been charged in connection with the case:

Vladas Rupeika, 35, from Epsom – charged with rape.

Nerijus Venckus, 36, from Surbiton – charged with rape and assault by penetration.

Peter Hoppe, 41, from Tolworth – charged with oral rape.
All three appeared separately before magistrates on Saturday morning – Rupeika and Venckus at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, and Hoppe at Croydon Magistrates’ Court. All were remanded into custody.
A fourth man, aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and administering a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police appeal
A Met Police spokesperson said:
“Three men have been charged following allegations of rape and sexual assault in Fishponds Park, Surbiton. The victim and her family continue to be supported by specialist officers.
Local residents can expect to see increased patrols in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 1207/21AUG.”
The case has sparked concern among residents, with police urging witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward.
