A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after police found a large machete during a stop and search at London Bridge Station.
Stop and Search at Busy Station
Metropolitan Police officers were patrolling the area around London Bridge station just before 4:05 pm on February 4, when a group of teenagers suddenly ran away.
Officers managed to catch one of the boys and carried out a stop and search, uncovering a large machete in his possession.
Arrest and Investigation
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken into custody. He has since been released on bail while police continue their investigation.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed:
“A 14-year-old boy was arrested by officers following a proactive stop and search that found he had a machete. Officers were patrolling the area around London Bridge Station at 16:06 hrs on Tuesday, 4 February when a group of teenage boys made off from police. Officers apprehended one teenager and carried out a search, resulting in the discovery of the weapon.
“He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken into custody. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.”

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about youth knife crime in London, with police continuing to conduct targeted stop and search operations in high-risk areas.
