A person has died after being struck by a train near North Sheen station, causing significant disruption across the South Western Railway network this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12:30pm, with both police and paramedics in attendance. Sadly, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed:
“Officers were called to North Sheen railway station at around 12.30pm today (11 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended; however, a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Major Disruption to Services
All rail lines between Richmond and Barnes were closed for several hours, resulting in extensive delays, cancellations, and train diversions.

Trains were delayed by up to 60 minutes, and service alterations included:

Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside services diverted via Hounslow

Waterloo circular routes via Kingston and Strawberry Hill were cancelled
Services Resume
Network Rail confirmed that lines reopened at around 3:40pm, but residual delays continued until 6:00pm as the network recovered.
