Six Fire Crews Sent to Tower Block Fire in Portsmouth

Fire Crews from Three station have been sent to tackle a Fire reported on 8th floor of a block flats in Queen Street, Portsmouth this afternoon. Six crewsfrom Cosham,Southsea and Havant are at the scene. An aerial ladder platform has also been sent to the incident. Hampshire fire and Rescue said that they where called at 1.43pm today, to Sarah Robinson House in Queen Street in Portsea. It is understood that the fire has broken out on the 8th floor within a property. Crews have been committed into the property wearing breathing apparatus using Two hose reels. Other crews have helped to move people effect on the fllor to a safe space. A further two pumping appliance from Portchester and Fareham have also been sent to the incident after smoke was seen issuing from a window within the building. Local buses services and the Hoverbus have also been affected by the incident and diversions have been put in place to traffic. A spokesman for Stagecoach said Portsmouth Queen Street closed due to a building fire, the following services are effected by the closure and have been put on divert 20/21/23/700 More to follow
