Residents Flee as Blaze Engulfs Brighton Home

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called into action at 11:20 a.m. on 9 August 2024, following reports of a fire in a terraced home on St Peter’s Street, Brighton. The blaze, which originated on the ground floor, quickly spread to the first floor of the property, prompting a significant response from local fire crews.

By 12:25 p.m., four fire engines had arrived at the scene, and firefighters equipped with eight breathing apparatus units and jets worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control. The crews are currently engaged in cutting away and dampening down operations to ensure that any remaining hot spots are fully extinguished, preventing any potential rekindling of the fire.

Fortunately, all occupants of the house managed to evacuate safely before the fire could cause further harm. The incident is currently being treated as an accidental fire, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
