Police launch arson probe on Portland after house fire

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a suspicious fire at a house on Portland. Dorset Police was called at around 6am on Sunday 12 August to an address in Hamcroft, Easton. The fire started in the porch and caused significant damage to the lounge and its contents before being extinguished by the fire service. A woman who was inside the address left without injury. Detective Constable Andy Marsh, of Weymouth CID, said: “We suspect this was an arson and I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the incident to get in touch.
