Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 30s was raped in Beresford Park, Reading, in the early hours of Friday morning (8 August).
The attack happened between 1:00am and 1:30am in the park, which is located off Beresford Road. The victim, who was known to her attacker, is receiving specialist support from police.
The suspect is described as a mixed-race man with a Romanian or Turkish accent, around 5ft 6ins (167cm) tall, with short brown hair, and a short brown beard and moustache. He may have been wearing a grey tracksuit and was believed to have a silver bicycle with him.
Detective Sergeant Yvonne Newman, of Berkshire West CID, said:
“We understand this rape will cause concern but we do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.
We are carrying out a thorough investigation and have put appropriate safeguards in place, including having extra police officers on patrol in Reading town centre last night and tonight. Please speak to a uniformed officer if you have any concerns.
We also had a scene in place at Beresford Park but this has now been stood down.”
