Pensioner treated for shock following house fire in Kent

Firefighters are dealing with a fire involving a house in Harrow Road, Hempstead, Gillingham. Four fire engines are in attendance and crews wearing breathing apparatus are using hose reel jets and water from a hydrant to tackle the fully-developed blaze, which involves the whole property. One casualty was already out of the house before the crews arrived and is in the care of SECAmb. Kent Police is also in attendance and a British Red Cross support unit has also been sent to the property. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
