A man who absconded from Springfield Hospital in south London has been located and returned to the facility.

Adil Maxamed, 20, was found in Earlsfield on the afternoon of July 21 and has since been returned to Springfield Hospital. Maxamed was the last of three men who absconded from the hospital on the night of July 19 at around 22:10hrs.

The first of the three men were detained approximately three hours after the incident, and the second man was apprehended in the Clapham Junction area on Saturday, July 20.

Detective Inspector Jack Lyle from the South West Command Unit said, “Thanks to a concerted effort, both by police and partner agencies, all three men have been located and returned to the hospital. I would also like to thank the public for their vigilance and assistance following our public appeals.”

The successful location and return of the absconded individuals reflect the effective collaboration between the police, partner agencies, and the community. The incident had raised concerns, and the swift response has been reassuring to the local community and the hospital.
