Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Southport Stabbing Incident

A man has been formally charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Southport that occurred over the weekend. The charge was announced earlier today by local authorities.

The incident took place shortly after 5:20 PM on Saturday, 27 July, inside a residential property on Albert Road. Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene following reports of the attack. An 18-year-old transgender woman, who was the victim of the stabbing, was transported to a local hospital where she is currently reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Mark Henderson of Albert Road, Southport, was arrested in connection with the attack. Henderson is set to appear before Liverpool Magistrates Court this morning for his initial hearing.

Merseyside Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and have issued a call for witnesses.
