Man charged with attempted murder after Faversham fire – UKNIP

A man suspected of setting fire to a residential property in Faversham has been charged with attempted murder.

Two people were taken to hospital with injuries, following the incident in the town centre during the early hours of Thursday 6 July 2023.

The fire was reported to Kent Police at 4.05am, and officers attended to assist Kent Fire and Rescue Service as their crews extinguished the blaze.

Duncan Hornby, 59, was arrested on Friday 7 July, and following authority from the Crown Prosecution Service was later charged with two counts of attempted murder, as well as a charge of arson with intent to endanger life.

Mr Hornby appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on Saturday 8 July and was remanded in custody. His next hearing will be at the same court on 7 August.
