Detectives have charged a suspected burglar with two offences in north Kent. On 29 December 2023, a resident in Wrotham Road, Meopham reported their house had been broken into whilst they were out. Jewellery was stolen from inside the premises and officers commenced an investigation that included forensic examination of the scene and a review of CCTV footage in the area.

Between 3 January and 10 January 2024, a further house was targeted near Ash Road, Longfield. Before the intruder was left empty-handed, entry was allegedly gained to the premises and rooms were searched. An investigation into the incidents was completed by the Kent Crime Squad and on Monday 22 April, a suspect was detained in Romford.

Two days later, Lorenc Stefanaj, of no fixed address, was charged with two burglaries. He was also charged with an additional burglary in Banstead, Surrey between 1 and 5 February. The 31-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 25 April.
