Man arrested after Seven Year old is killed in Hit and Run Near Folkestone
A man has been arrested following a fatal collision involving a child pedestrian in Folkestone. The collision happened at around 5.35pm on Wednesday 6 December 2023, on the A259 Sandgate Esplanade near its junction with Prospect Road.

It involved two vehicles. One of the vehicles left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services. Police and ambulance crews attended and the child, a seven-year-old boy, was confirmed deceased at the scene.

At around 5.15pm on Thursday 7 December, a 49-year-old man from the Dymchurch area was arrested and taken into custody.

Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw either the victim or vehicles in the moments leading up to it, to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538, quoting reference MM/DGC/130/23. You can also email [email protected]
