A 20-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Plashet Park, Newham, at the end of July has been identified as Imran Maroof. The tragic incident occurred on July 27, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Imran succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of the stabbing, where they found Imran with serious stab wounds. Two other teenage males were also discovered at the scene—one had been stabbed, and the other had sustained head injuries. Both were transported to the hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening.
A 16-year-old boy from Newham, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, has been charged with the murder of Imran Maroof. The teenager appeared in Bexley Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, August 30, and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, September 3.
The case is being investigated by detectives from the Specialist Crime Command. The Metropolitan Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
