M4 Temporarily Closed After Multi-Vehicle Collision

Wiltshire Police Respond to Incident with Swift Emergency Services Action

Wiltshire Police were swiftly on the scene of a multi-vehicle collision on the M4 today, resulting in the temporary closure of both lanes of the carriageway between Membury Services and J14.

The incident, which occurred around 3:15 pm on March 23, involved a total of 13 vehicles. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were promptly dispatched to the area to provide assistance.

Fortunately, there were no reported serious injuries resulting from the collision. Paramedics attended to three patients at the scene, assessing their injuries as non-life-threatening or life-changing.

Firefighters utilized cutting equipment to free one individual trapped in their vehicle. Their swift action and expertise ensured the safe extrication of the individual.

As of 5:30 pm on March 23, the Eastbound carriageway has been reopened, and one lane of the Westbound carriageway is now accessible to traffic.

Wiltshire Police expressed their gratitude to all emergency service personnel involved in responding to the incident and managing the scene effectively.

Authorities are reminding motorists to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits, particularly in adverse weather conditions or areas prone to congestion, to minimize the risk of accidents on the roads.
