Investigation Launched and Road Closed After Man Found with Facial Injuries in Upminster

An investigation is underway in Upminster following the discovery of a man with facial injuries just after midnight, prompting the closure of a road in the area. Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 12:26 am when reports emerged of an injured individual on St Mary’s Lane, Upminster.

Upon arrival, authorities found a 29-year-old man with facial injuries at the scene. He was promptly transported to an east London hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, his condition has been assessed as not life-threatening.

The London Ambulance Service responded to the call at 12:29 am and swiftly attended to the injured individual, prioritizing his transfer to the hospital.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated, “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of his injuries.” They appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation, urging individuals to contact the police on 101 or reach out via X @MetCC, quoting reference number 133/23APR.

As a result of the incident, Corbets Tey Road Southbound has been temporarily closed from A124 St Mary’s Lane to Springfield Gardens. However, traffic reports indicate that congestion is being managed effectively, with no significant disruptions reported.

For commuters relying on bus route 370, a diversion has been implemented to accommodate the road closure.

A spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service confirmed their involvement, stating, “We were called at 12:29 am this morning (April 23) to reports of an incident on St Mary’s Lane, Upminster. We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and took a patient to the hospital as a priority.”

The closure of the road and ongoing investigation underscore the seriousness of the situation, with authorities working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Residents and commuters are advised to cooperate with any diversions or closures in place and to assist authorities with any relevant information they may possess.
