Homes Evacuated in Margate Over Suspicious Items – UKNIP

Police have evacuated residents from four streets in Margate after suspicious items were found in a flat.

Bomb Squad Scrambles to Rosedale Road

Kent Police were called at around 4pm on Wednesday 8 October 2025 to a property on Rosedale Road. Concerns about potentially dangerous items inside the flat sparked the emergency response.

An explosive ordnance disposal team from the Ministry of Defence is currently on site examining the items. Kent Fire and Rescue crews are also assisting.

Nearby Streets Cleared, Residents Taken to Leisure Centre

Authorities cordoned off Rosedale Road, as well as Glencoe Road, Wharfedale Road, and Malham Drive, evacuating homes as a precaution.

Thanet District Council is looking after the welfare of displaced residents, using Hartsdown Leisure Centre as a support hub.

One Arrest Made

A person connected to the incident has been arrested and is in police custody as investigations continue.
