Gunshots Fired at Brixton Sainsbury’s Store, Road Closed for Investigation

A busy road in Brixton has been closed following an incident involving gunshots fired into a Sainsbury’s store window late Monday night.

Police were called to Tulse Hill at around 10 PM after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of a firearm being discharged near the supermarket, with one window shattered as a result. Fortunately, there were no injuries directly related to the firearm; however, a member of the public sustained a minor knee graze after dropping to the floor during the incident.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and police enquiries are ongoing. The Metropolitan Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 101, quoting the reference CAD 8518/20 May.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police provided the following statement: “Police were called to Tulse Hill, SW2, shortly before 22:00hrs on Monday, 20 May to reports of shots fired. Officers attended the scene and discovered evidence of a firearm being discharged near a supermarket, where a window was smashed. There are no firearm-related injuries, but one member of the public shopping in the store grazed her knee after dropping to the floor. There have been no arrests. Enquiries are ongoing.”

The incident has prompted increased police presence in the area as investigations continue. The authorities are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward to assist with their enquiries.
