A significant traffic incident on the M25 has led to extensive delays following a major collision involving four vehicles that occurred shortly after midnight on Friday, February 9. The accident, which took place between Junctions 8 (Reigate) and 7 (M23), resulted in the closure of three lanes, causing a backup of traffic for 11 miles, extending to before Junction 9 (Leatherhead).

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and three individuals were transported to the hospital, with one reportedly sustaining serious injuries. Surrey Police have been conducting an investigation into the crash, and while their accident investigation work has concluded, repairs to damaged barriers are necessitating the continued closure of three lanes.

National Highways has issued a statement advising motorists of delays exceeding one and a half hours on the M25 anti-clockwise in Surrey due to the collision. Traffic management efforts are being supported by National Highways Traffic Officers in collaboration with Surrey Police, who will remain on-site to conduct further investigations.

Motorists planning to travel through this section of the M25 are advised to anticipate significant delays. National Highways recommends allowing extra travel time, considering alternative routes, or delaying journeys if possible to avoid the affected area.
