Football fans have united to donate thousands of pounds to the Bradley Lowery Foundation following reports that the image of the late Bradley Lowery was used as a taunt during a game. Two men, aged 31 and 27, are currently in custody on suspicion of outraging public decency during Sunderland’s away match to Sheffield Wednesday.

Bradley Lowery, who battled cancer and passed away at the age of six, became a beloved mascot for Sunderland. The foundation established in his memory aims to support children with cancer and other illnesses.

In response to the incident, Sheffield Wednesday fans rallied together, raising over £6,000 through a GoFundMe page initiated by the Sheffield Wednesday Women’s Supporters’ Group. The Bradley Lowery Foundation expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, emphasising that the funds would contribute to the charity’s holiday home in Scarborough.

A Twitter post from the foundation conveyed their appreciation: “We are honestly so overwhelmed. We are so thankful to SWFC and all of the fans for showing your support. We know the views of a couple are not the views of the majority, and will forever be grateful for this gesture, which will be put towards our holiday home in Scarborough.”
