Fire crews called after van explosion in Dartford

Firefighters from Kent fire and rescue have tackled a van that was engulfed bin flames this evening. Crews where called to Prospect place near to the railway station in Dartford just after 8pm on Friday. When crews arrived they were faced will a well developed vehicle fire. Firefighters used a hose reel and two breathing appurtus to tackle the blaze that spread to fuel tank causing an explosion. The works van has been totally destroyed by the fire. The driver is understood to have escaped without injury. Part of the road remains closed for investigation work. Kent fire have been approached for comment
