A local bus driver has been rushed to hospital following a serious hit-and-run collision in Dagenham late on Tuesday night.
The crash happened on Heathway, near the Ripple Road bus depot, at around 11pm on 26 August.

Motorcyclist Struck
Witnesses said the victim, believed to be a bus driver for Arriva returning home from work, was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by a car.

Emergency services were quickly called to the scene, with the London Ambulance Service taking the injured man to hospital under a police escort. His condition is not yet known.

Car Abandoned Nearby
A car involved in the collision reportedly failed to stop. It was later found abandoned around 800 yards from the crash site, down a side street.

According to onlookers, a man was seen being placed in the back of a police van near the scene shortly after the incident.
Investigation Under Way
Police officers have launched an investigation and are expected to confirm whether any arrests have been made. A large police presence remained in the area into the early hours.

One eyewitness told UKNIP:
“I was told by a bus driver that the motorcyclist was returning from work. He believes he was one of their colleagues from the Ripple Road depot. The ambulance left with a police escort — it looked very serious.”

The Metropolitan Police has yet to release an official statement. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage from the area is urged to contact police via 101.
