Bodies of Elderly Couple Pulled from Fenland River Near Chain Bridge

The bodies of a man and a woman in their 80s have been recovered from a Fenland river near Chain Bridge following concerns for their welfare. Police were alerted around 8:30 AM on Saturday after locals noticed a car parked in the area for several days.

The woman’s body was found on Saturday afternoon, while the search for the man continued into Sunday. Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the discovery of the man’s body at 4:30 PM today. Twenty Foot River Road was closed for much of the day during the search.

Investigation Ongoing

Detective Inspector Lee Womack stated the woman’s death is currently treated as unexplained, with ongoing searches and investigations. The public is asked to provide any relevant dashcam footage or information regarding a silver Vauxhall Astra spotted in the area on July 10.

Public Appeal

Anyone with information is urged to contact police quoting incident 116 of July 13.
