A major fire has broken out at Arbour House on Arbour Square, E1, with flames ripping through two flats and causing significant damage to the building’s exterior this evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 6pm on Friday, 28 March, with reports of a well-developed blaze and people potentially trapped inside.

The London Fire Brigade deployed six fire engines and multiple crews to the location, with firefighters battling flames that reportedly blew out windows and melted parts of the surrounding structure.

Scene Described as ‘Well-Developed’

Firefighters first on scene, used hose reels to fight the blaze from the outside by spraying water to lower the temperature and to prevent a backdraft  from taking place, making the blae harder to control.

The cause of the blaze is understood to be under investigation.
