A cyclist has sustained serious injuries following a collision in Northfield yesterday afternoon

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 4.33pm to a collision involving a van and a cyclist on South Road in Northfield, Birmingham. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival, we found a man who was the cyclist being cared for by bystanders. He was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained serious injuries.

“Ambulance staff administered advanced trauma care to him at the scene and he was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.”

“No further patients required treatment.”
